2017 BOYS FALL FOOTBALL INFORMATION SHEETS

 
BOYS: Ages 7 – 12 Years Old 

 
Age as of 7/1/2017 will determine the age group placement. A child must be 7 years old by 7/1/2017 in order to register in the football program. 

 Practices will begin the week of August 21, 2017. In order to teach proper technique in a contact sport, pre-season practices will be scheduled up to 4 evenings per week. Once games begin, there will be a maximum of 3 practices per week. Practices are an hour and half long and the coaches will choose the following slots to fit their work schedules: 5:30pm, 5:45pm, 7:00pm, or 7:15pm. 

 Games begin September 9, 2017. The season consists of a 7 game schedule and concludes with a single elimination tournament. All regular season games will be held on a Saturday. Make-up games may be scheduled on a different day of the week. 

 All games and practices will be held at Pelican Park. 

 
Registration Fees cover the cost of officials, a game jersey, a pair of socks, helmet decals, secondary medical insurance, and awards. Registration does NOT include the cost of a helmet, pads, cleats or pants. Please contact your local sporting goods store for information regarding equipment. An estimated purchase cost for all equipment is between $150.00 - $200.00 depending on the store and the quality of equipment.



 PRE-EVALUATION ROOKIE MINI CAMP 

Pelican Park and the Football Advisory Board will be hosting a Rookie Mini Camp for all interested registered football players. This mini camp will teach the registered football participants various techniques to prepare them for the upcoming evaluations and football season. It is strongly recommended that all 1st and 2nd year participants attend the camp.

ONLY REGISTERED PLAYERS FOR THE 2017 FOOTBALL SEASON CAN ATTEND THESE CLINICS. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Camp will be located at Grey 2 for ALL ages.

7/8 Year Old Age Group:  Wednesday, August 9th 
Check In:   5:30pm - 6:00pm
Camp Starts:   6:00pm – 7:30pm
 
9/10 Year Old Age Group:  Thursday, August 10th
Check In:   5:30pm - 6:00pm
Camp Starts:   6:00pm – 7:30pm

11/12 Year Old Age Group:  Friday, August 11th
Check In:   5:30pm - 6:00pm
Camp Starts:   6:00pm – 7:30pm

IF ANY CAMP IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER, IT WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED.

This is a full contact clinic. Football helmet, shoulder pads, leg pads, and mouthpiece are required. The Football Advisory Board will be available to answer any questions regarding equipment or about the season.



2017 FOOTBALL EVALUATION INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE 

All players need to be evaluated. Players must attend one of the two evaluations offered. Players must come to evaluations dressed in full gear, which is shoulder pads, helmet with mouthpiece, leg pads, and rubber cleats. It is strongly suggested that the players bring a water bottle. If your child does not attend one of the evaluations, he will not be allowed to play a skilled position.

All participants must be at the Park by the start time in order to complete the full evaluation.

**The location of the evaluations will be on the Grey 2 Field and will take 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete** 

7/8 Year Old Group
Saturday, 8/12: Check in – 8:15am - 8:45am Starts promptly at 8:45am 
OR
Monday, 8/14: Check in – 5:30pm - 6:00pm. Starts promptly at 6:00pm 
OR
Wednesday, 8/16:  Check in - 6:45pm - 7:00pm.  Starts promptly at 7:00pm

 

9/10 Year Old Group 
Saturday, 8/12: Check in – 9:15am - 9:45am. Starts promptly at 9:45am
OR 
Tuesday, 8/15: Check in – 5:30pm - 6:00pm. Starts promptly at 6:00pm 
OR
Wednesday, 8/16:  Check in - 7:15pm - 7:30pm.  Starts promptly at 7:30pm


 
11/12 Year Old Group
Saturday, 8/12: Check in – 10:15am -10:45am. Starts promptly at 10:45am
OR
Wednesday, 8/16: Check in – 5:30pm - 6:00pm. Starts promptly at 6:00pm

2017 FOOTBALL PLAYER/PARENT SEASON KICKOFF ORIENTATION

Pelican Park and the Football Advisory Board will be having their annual Football Season Pep Rally. This will be a formal gathering of all the coaches, parents and players in an age group where the teams are announced and players are introduced. At the celebration, the parents and players will have the opportunity to hear all the new exciting things happening in the Football program in addition to meeting their coaches, Age Group Directors and Football Advisory Board members. Please mark your calendars to attend; this will be an extra special event for the Players and coaches.

This event will be held on Sunday, August 20th in the Castine Center's Halls A & B 

* 11/12 Year Olds will meet at 1:00pm 

* 9/10 Year Olds will meet at 2:00pm 

* 7/8 Year Olds will meet at 3:00pm
