Twilight Egg Hunt registration
is open for District residents

    Registration for our second annual Twilight Egg Hunt is now open for Recreation District #1 residents! Sign up now so you can join us on Friday, March 23, at 6 p.m. for this free event, which will feature plenty of springtime fun, including age-appropriate egg hunts, activities and games.

Registration details:

• District residents may register at any time, until spaces are filled.

• Non-district residents may register for any remaining spaces beginning Friday, March 9.

• To register, call the Park office at 985-626-7997.

• Space is limited to 50 children per age group, so early registration is recommended.

Twilight Egg Hunt details:

•  Egg hunts will be divided into four age groups: 1-3 years (check-in at 6 p.m., hunt at 6:30 p.m.), 4-6 years (check-in at 6:30 p.m., hunt at 7 p.m.), 7-9 years (check-in at 7 p.m., hunt at 7:30 p.m.), and 10-12 years (check-in at 7:30 p.m., hunt at 8 p.m.).

• All activities will take place at the Park’s Orange Complex.

• In addition to the egg hunts, there will be various games and activities for all ages.

Camping and RVing

 Have you ever dreamed of touring our country while camping or living out of a recreational vehicle? Learn the ins and outs of doing so from this couple, who were fortunate enough to retire, sell their home and travel in an RV. Beautiful scenic photos will be used as part of the power point presentation. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • How and what to pack
  • How to pay bills, what to do with mail?
  • Books, websites and magazines will be recommended
  • Places to camp, the advantages or disadvantages of each
  • The types of RV units form tents to big class A motor homes
  • Electricity, water, sewerage disposal for each of the above will be discussed.

This class is being made possible as a result of an intergovernmental agreement between Recreation District #1 and the City of Mandeville and will be held at the Mandeville Trailhead Depot located at 675 Lafitte St. in Old Mandeville.

Come learn the art of ya ya painting. Students are required to purchase a small unfinished bird house or stool to paint. The piece of your choice must be primed with a water based prmer, such as Kilz when you bring it to class.  All brushes and paint will be provided.
